The above picture shows passive axles, the active ones are on your pics, they are found only as Tractor front axles...some do have brakes some do not, some do have coil spring on them some do not...

I have never ever heard of broken Front axle on that type of Russian tractors, maybe you can brake it ... if you jump from a few meters height...it is all possible you know...

These axles are rock hard but quite heavy 200 KG ish, and also very very high, I am talking 70 cm ground clearance with the default tires... so your center of gravity hits the sky, which means no good... unless you are building a truck not e jeep...

Heavy yes, but who cares. You need momentum and low gravity...

btw, I'm not building a Jeep , I'm modifying a Landrover.

And axles are plows when driving in mud. I had the unpleasant experience last week.
There's only 38cm axle groundclearance at the moment, 60cm to the body. This is good for greenlaning only

I'd love to see that ... or you are measuring that at the axle tube not at the axle lowest point which is the diff pan...

Dirk, these tractor axles are no joke mate, what tranny u gonna use, they gonna be both central drive shaft positioned, so atlas I presume, and what suspension I think their axle tube is cast iron not steеl, so you wont be able to just glue(weld) suspension on it...

I dunno mate, the only machines I've seen with them are above 2-3 tons in weight and are build by a huge institutions not made by entusiasts, may be there is a reason behind that

Thanks for the pics but these aren't Laplander axles.
This are dropboxes from Maxidrive on genuine Landrover axles.
Maxidrive doesn't exist any more and this was f***ing expensive.
