is this true?

i have seen bg atv not registered and no helmet on the roads in pavlikeni and veliko tarnovo so im confused.

Don't be confused. You should know that we are not respected by the police authorities. Driving your quad without registration plates is not legal.To drive legally on BG roads you must have plates and helmet on your head.You must also have car licence.Otherwise they can get your licence for up to 6 months + money+your atv for some time

You can see us driving on roads without plates , some even without a helmet, but that's because we choose that way.

I believe you paid this 50 leva directly to the cops,right? If this happen again don't give more than 20 leva

First you need to check your registration document of your ATV. If it's registered as "L7e" (that is the category type for quad vehicles) then you can drive it without helmet and with car license.
If the police charged you 50lv and you have any document for proof you can go to KAT (police station) and make a claim.

Most policemen are not clear about the category. If you drive with your car license you do not need a helmet, but then they can ask for a spare tire, triangle and first-aid kit. Best drive with a helmet, it is better for you to. In Bulgarian law does not yet have specific regulations for quads and from there comes the problem.

because the answer of "where is your helmet?" in most cases is "I don't need because I drive the quad with a car licence,it's registered as 4 wheeler vehicle like car,So I don't need it" and if they want to give you a ticket they ask "ok, so where are the spare tire,belt,safety equipment,etc......" When you go to KAT to make a claim about those stuff the fee for the helmet will be gone but for the rest of it will last. This already happened.

Just wear your helmet and equpment and you will save a lot of time,money,and disturbance. Even if you don't have the plate your chance to let you go is really big when equiped.

They aren't clear with the regulations or just pretend that way . because I said in my previous post we are not respected by them

hello there,

I can't say whether it is clear or not the issue about the driving license category you need in order to ride an ATV on the streets. One this is for sure - you need a helmet. So, your fine was something that was according to the Bulgarian law.

Yes, you have certainly seen ATVs that were not registered, nor their riders wore helmets, but that is a part of the Bulgarian reality that need another forum.

To wrap it up, don't bother - you have paid your fine (hopefully they have issued a document certifying that) and there is little to do about it. Next time - wear a helmet. Not just for the police, but also for your own protection.

firstly to all. thank you for all your replies.

it was careless of me not to ride with my helmet. i do on most occasions if not all except this occasion.
i was issued a ticket which i paid for my stupidity although there is no law to enforce it i think.

my atv is registered body type agriculture machine and is road registered on uk plates.

if bg joined the EU isnt there any european laws relating to this the police must adhere to?(to a degree of course) i dont take much intrest in politics and laws.

i apologise for not knowing the language i have only lived here for 1 month. give me chance i am studying!!!

im not going to stop riding my atv on the roads, just make sure i always carry my documents and wear a helmet. i will carry a triangle and first aid kit in a backpack along with a tyre repair kit. this way i minimise the risk of any fines when i do get pulled by the police.
no matter what i ride or drive i get pulled on a daily basis. its a joke!
they see a uk vehicle on the road and its like an easy target for them.
luckily my good friend is a police officer. i call him and he speaks to them for me. it usually works!!!

IM няма да спре езда ми ATV по пътищата, просто се уверете, че аз винаги носят моите документи и носи каска. Аз ще носят триъгълник и аптечка в раницата, заедно с комплект гуми ремонт. този начин се минимизира рискът от глоби, когато аз правя се извади от полицията.
независимо от това, което кара колело или кола и да извади на дневна база. си е шега!
те виждат Великобритания превозно средство на пътя и като лесна мишена за тях.
За щастие моят добър приятел е полицай. Наричам го и той говори с тях за мен. той обикновено работи!
