urgent ATV advice please!!!!

CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE?

i was riding my UK road registered quad (ATV SUZUKI LTZ 440) the other day when i was given the old lollipop shake from the local police who screamed up behind me in their astra police car with blues n toos.

they said 50lev fine for no helmet??? which i paid at the municipal office not the police themselves.

is this law in BG? as i have seen many motorcycle and ATV riders without helmets and many even without licence plates!!!

also i produced my documents for my ATV

i have a UK licence UK insurance UK vehicle documents.

i was told i need a motorbike licence to ride on BG roads on an ATV?????

the atv is registered as an agriclutural vehicle and have agricultural entitlements on my UK licence. which i pointed out to them.

its also legal to ride the ATV on a car licence in the uk.

Where do i stand??????

any advise welcomed on the subject.

Well, I am not very familiar with the Bulgarian laws regarding ATVs, but as far as I know there is no law for helmet and license plates if you are of road. In case you were on paved road, I believe you need registered vehicle, license plates and helmet. The big question is- on what kind of road did this happen?

well,i know that many ATV's cant be registered here in Bulgaria....so they arent road legal...as far as i know...

If you are on the public road you should wear a helmet. There is no linkeage between registration of the vehicle and the rule of wearing helmet.
