Ok long story.. I found out Opel used different axles through the years and different gears.. The Frontera A axle gearing: 2.0 4.88:1 or 5.13:1 2.3 4.30:1 or 4.56:1 2.4 4.56:1 or 4.88:1 2.2 4.88:1 2.5 4.30:1 2.8 4.56:1 On the early models the lower gears where in the wide tire package (255/75 R15) Some axle info: Opel used GKN axles instead of Isuzu/Dana axles in the A Frontera's. Thats why there are different gears and no lockers available On all models Opel used a "GKN 12HU" frontaxle and "GKN 16HA" rearaxle. except the 2.0's those used the weaker "GKN 9HU" front axle The GKN 16HA is a very beefy axle with 32 spline 35mm thick shafts, gearing up to 5.13:1 but there's only a Limited slip available The GKN 12HU is comparable to a Isuzu 10 bolt, but some say it's weaker. Those axles have a gearing up to 4.88:1 The GKN 9HU is a very weak axle with only 25mm thick shaft and the gearing goes up to 5.13:1. So your rear end is not a standard D44, in the Frontera B they started using D44's! Thatswhy I bought my Monterey stock Isuzu 10 bolt frontaxle, stock Isuzu 12 bolt rearaxle. Lockers available and gearing up to 5.38:1 if you want to spend some money Hope this clears things up Posts: 622 Location: Netherlands Posted: Thu Nov 25, 2010 7:14 pm Post subject: All the B Frontera's (1998-2004) had a "Isuzu 10 BOLT" front axle and a "Dana 44" rear axle. For the rear there are sure lower gears. For the front too, but those are harder to get. For the front you could get: 4.77 OEM gears (not sure where to get those is Europe) 5.12 OEM gears (BigMeatVX sells them on this forum) 5.38 Aftermarked gears (which are out of production AFAIK but sometimes the appear on E BAY or the forum or something) The rear is just going to a jeep shop and telling which ratio you want! The Dana 44 is a very common axle. On the A Frontera's (1991-1998) they used GKN axles, which also had the 4.88 availability from stock. If you want this ratio, you can swap a GKN 4.88 front axle under it and buy a matching ring and pinion for the rear. BUT there is no locker available for this axle and it's also slightly weaker! Camiel Hello, we would like to offer you: K&S Vacuum-Locker 100% incl. lines switch / vacuum unit Euro 1.399,00 It is an individual construction. For this we need the old cpl. axel. If you are interessed please let me know! Have a nice day, your, K&S-Team
